Hello director(s) at Pakreport
My name is Tashi. I am the Assistant Projects Manager for Asia at BBC World Service Trust. I have a request/idea for us to possibly work together to maximise our aid to the flood-affected people in Pakistan.
Currently, we are running BBC Pakistan Lifeline radio programme. The project aims to help mitigate the immediate and medium-term impact of flooding on affected populations throughout Pakistan by delivering up-to-date, accurate, and impartial lifeline information to affected peoples, host communities, and humanitarian actors.
I read about your service with great interest. I think the voluntary service you provide is amazing, innovative and dynamic. Most importantly, I think that there is even a greater opportunity we could work together.
The area I am interested to know more about is your SMS infrastructure (with Digitania). It's a great medium for the flood affected people to sms their situation and location. I also think your alert sms system is outstanding. I am toying with the idea of us (BBC WST) supplying you with practial health aid information, and you could diseminate the information when: people sms to 3441, sending our your alert, or simply sending the information to a database of mobile numbers you have received information from.
I understand there will be a host of areas where we will need more clarification and work for this partnership to start. I am really eager to know what your thoughts are on this idea. I remain open to any other suggestions or willing to talk about any areas regarding cost, resources and implementation.
I would be most grateful if you could please respond, and give me your contact details so that we could take this forward.
Many thanks,
Yours sincerely,
Tashi
